This thing called a career

Do I apply for the good job that raises my salary a lot NOW, or the better job that would raise my salary by the same amount, but that I may not get and would not even start until two years from now? (I can't do both.)

What would you tell your daughter to do? That is what I have been using as my litmus lately. Who would I tell my daughter to vote for? What would I tell my daughter to wear? Who would I want my daughter to find as a friend (someone like Holly Stovall!)... You might say "you should not tell your daughter any of those things... she should make her own way." Maybe, but until I am able to do that, who would I want my daughter to take for Women's Studies class...

If it were my daughter the FIRST thing that pops into my head is "follow your heart," but the second thing that pops into my head, is "be financialy self-suficient--or at least potentially so."
Anyway, the Spanish job description is looking less and less of a match for me. It says "Ability to develop and offer technology-enhanced language learning systems and language teacher preparation programs." I have that "ability" but not the interest!!!
This is a 25 or 30 year career committment, so if I have a chance to do it in my area of interest, I should go for it.

As you are "potentially" financially self-sufficient in either choice, it is clear that you should follow your heart!
